How to install an IPTV player on Fire TV (Firestick)
· Checked with BurgTV 1.3.7 (TV) · 1.2.1 (Android) · 1.0.15 (iPhone/iPad)
BurgTV runs on Amazon Fire TV devices with Fire OS: the Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max, Fire TV Cube and televisions with Fire TV built in. It is installed with the Downloader app and then plays your M3U playlists, Xtream Codes logins and Jellyfin server with the Fire TV remote. You bring the source.
First: is your Fire TV on Fire OS?
Open Settings > My Fire TV > About. If the software version says Fire OS, go ahead. The newest models, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the Fire TV Stick 4K launched in 2026, run Vega OS instead and cannot install BurgTV or any other APK: the Vega OS guide lists every model and the alternatives. The very first Fire TV models, still on Fire OS 5, are too old: BurgTV needs Fire OS based on Android 7.0 or later.
Install BurgTV on Fire TV, step by step
- With the remote, search for Downloader (by AFTVnews) in the Fire TV search and install it from the Amazon Appstore.
- Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About and press the device name 7 times: a message confirms it and Developer options appears in the My Fire TV menu.
- Open Settings > My Fire TV > Developer options > Install unknown apps and turn it on for Downloader. On some older models the option is a single switch called Apps from Unknown Sources.
- Open Downloader, type download.burgtv.com/tv.apk in the address field and press Go. The file is about 60 MB.
- Press Install, then Open. When Downloader offers to delete the file, say yes: it frees space on the Fire TV.
You can compare the file with the SHA-256 fingerprint published on download.burgtv.com; the install guide explains how.
Fire TV Stick Lite and other models with little memory
The Fire TV Stick Lite and the third-generation Fire TV Stick have 1 GB of memory and 8 GB of storage. BurgTV works on them, with two adjustments it makes by itself: Multi-View shows up to 2 channels instead of 4 (devices with less than 1.5 GB of memory), and the timeshift buffer can be shorter when free storage is low. Keep a few GB free: uninstall apps you don’t use in Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications.
Using BurgTV with the Fire TV remote
- At first launch the Welcome screen asks for your source; later, add more in Settings > My Lists > Add playlist.
- In the grid TV guide, press Left to open the categories and the menu.
- In the channel list, hold OK on a channel to lock it with the parental control PIN.
- BurgTV is not on the Fire TV home screen right after installing? Hold the Home button, open Apps and move it to the front.
Fire TV problems
- “Install unknown apps” is missing: Developer options are hidden until you press the device name 7 times in About.
- “There was a problem parsing the package”: the download was cut off, or the Fire TV is too old (Fire OS 5). Download the file again; if it still fails, check the system version.
- Not enough storage: delete the downloaded APK and apps you don’t use, then try again.
- Downloader is not in the Appstore: your Fire TV probably runs Vega OS. See Fire TV with Vega OS.
- Buffering or freezes: usually due to the connection or the source; see how to reduce buffering.
