Comparison · TiviMate alternative

Looking for a TiviMate alternative? Also for iPhone and iPad

BurgTV is a TiviMate alternative that also runs on iPhone, iPad and Android phones; on the TV it has a grid guide, timeshift up to 120 minutes, Multi-View with up to 4 channels and recordings (Premium).

TiviMate is a popular IPTV player built for Android TV. If you also need an app for iPhone, iPad or an Android phone, BurgTV plays the same M3U and Xtream Codes playlists on your TV and your phones. Both are neutral players: you bring the source.

What they have in common

According to TiviMate’s public information as of October 2026 (Google Play listing and official website), TiviMate is a player that provides no content: you add your own M3U, Xtream Codes or Stalker Portal playlists and get a grid TV guide, multiple playlists, favorites, catch-up, recording, search, parental controls and Multiview. BurgTV follows the same idea: it is a neutral player for M3U, Xtream Codes and Portal (MAC + URL), and on TV it offers a TV guide, catch-up (if your source has an archive), recordings and Multi-View. On TV those last features are part of Premium.

Where BurgTV is different

  • Apps for iPhone, iPad and Android phones too, on top of Fire TV, Google TV and Android TV. TiviMate states it is designed for Android TV and not optimized for phones and tablets. See BurgTV on iPhone and iPad.
  • Your own Jellyfin server as a source, next to M3U, Xtream Codes and Portal, on TV and phones. See Jellyfin on Fire TV.
  • Movies and series found in your playlist: on a title’s page, “Check availability” looks for that movie or series in your playlists (on TV, with Premium).
  • Offline viewing on phones (Android, iPhone and iPad): episodes and movies from your source, when the source allows it.
  • Kids profile on TV (Premium): shows only age-rated titles, up to age 12 or a lower limit; unrated titles stay hidden and leaving the profile requires the PIN. See parental controls.
  • Interface in 21 languages in the TV app, from English to Arabic, Japanese and Korean.

Where TiviMate is more mature

To be honest: TiviMate has been around for years (its Google Play listing dates back at least to 2019), has more than 5 million downloads and a large community, with plenty of guides and ready-made answers. It is available on Google Play, while the BurgTV TV app is installed from download.burgtv.com (on iPhone and iPad BurgTV is on the App Store). If you only use an Android TV and TiviMate does the job, there is no urgent reason to switch: BurgTV makes the most sense when you want the same source on iPhone, iPad or a phone too.

How to switch from TiviMate to BurgTV

  1. Install BurgTV: on Fire TV, Google TV, Android TV and Android phones from download.burgtv.com, on iPhone and iPad from the App Store. Step by step: how to install BurgTV.
  2. Grab the same playlist you use in TiviMate: the M3U link, or the Xtream Codes server, username and password, or the Portal MAC and URL.
  3. Add it on first launch from the welcome screen, or from Settings > My Lists > Add playlist.
  4. Check the TV guide: it comes from Xtream or from the playlist’s url-tvg; for channels still without a guide, use Settings > TV Guide > Additional EPG sources > Add XMLTV source.
  5. Recreate your favorites: they are not imported automatically from TiviMate.

Newer Fire TV devices running Vega OS (for example the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, the 2nd-generation Fire TV Stick HD and the new 3rd-generation Fire TV Stick 4K) cannot install Android apps or APK files. BurgTV works on Fire TV devices running Fire OS, the Android-based system: for example the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, the Fire TV Cube and earlier Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick 4K models.

Free and Premium at a glance

On TV, BurgTV is free with 1 playlist, live TV, a 3-day guide, 10 favorites and parental controls. Premium (CHF 8.90 per year with 7 days free, or CHF 25.90 one time, up to 5 devices across TV and Android) adds unlimited playlists, Movies and Series, catch-up, a 14-day guide, timeshift, Multi-View, recordings and profiles. On iPhone and iPad: a 7-day trial, then a purchase in the App Store. On Android every feature is included until November 10, 2026; from that day the same limits as on the TV apply, and Premium is activated with the website license (5 devices across TV and Android). Anyone using the Android app before November 10, 2026 gets 3 months of Premium as a gift. Recordings are for personal use, respecting the rights of your source.

Frequently asked questions

Is there TiviMate for iPhone and iPad?

According to TiviMate’s public information as of October 2026, the app is designed for Android TV and there is no official TiviMate app on the App Store, so watch out for apps with similar names. BurgTV is available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store, with a 7-day trial.

Can I use my TiviMate playlist in BurgTV?

Yes. M3U URLs, Xtream Codes credentials or a Portal (MAC + URL) are added from Settings > My Lists > Add playlist. Keep in mind that every app open at the same time uses one connection of your source, and many subscriptions allow 1 or 2.

Do my TiviMate favorites carry over?

No, they are not imported automatically: after adding the playlist you recreate your favorites in BurgTV. The TV guide, on the other hand, loads by itself from Xtream or the playlist’s url-tvg, or, for channels without a guide, from an additional XMLTV source you add.

Is BurgTV free?

Yes, on TV and Android, with 1 playlist, live TV and a 3-day guide; Premium costs CHF 8.90 per year (7 days free) or CHF 25.90 once. On Android everything is included until November 10, 2026. On iPhone and iPad: 7-day trial, then App Store.

Do BurgTV or TiviMate provide channels?

No. Both are just players: they do not provide, sell or host content. You bring the source, for example a regular IPTV subscription or your own Jellyfin server.
